Aquarium Age

The Aquarium Age: July 26 – Aug. 1

By Ralfee Finn

We’re caught in a Uranian time warp this week and next, so don’t be surprised if the days and nights unfold like a Mercury Retrograde on steroids. Uranus “course corrections” are almost always disruptive, and while it might be difficult to identify and isolate yet another disruption, Uranus Retrograde tends to have a recognizable signature. Besides resembling Mercury Retrograde and its dimension of miscommunication and constantly shifting schedules, Uranus Retrograde exacerbates a distinct level of dysfunction—problems with computers and every other kind of electronic device. Expect more than a few moments of techno anxiety, as everything from smart phones to tablets to servers to—dare I say it?—voice mails seem to have a life of their own, a life quite separate from yours. Breathing deeply is the best thing to do in the midst of this retrograde chaos. And don’t despair—even though it doesn’t seem like it, we’ve been through worse. So keep your phone charged and be willing to lend that charger to your fellow travelers, especially those less prepared and less equipped to handle this transition.

Uranus is best known as the symbol for sudden and startling shifts, and when it makes contact with another planet, or “turns around,” we feel its force quite keenly. (Just to be sure: Uranus doesn’t really change direction; it just looks as if it does relative to Earth’s solar orbit.) Astrologers link Uranus to revolution. It’s the archetype of the rebel, with or without a cause, hence my nickname for Uranus—the Che Guevara of the astral realms. It’s infamous for catalyzing stagnant waters, and its presence, by one or another form of contact, tends to disrupt the status quo.

But there’s a problem with the power of Uranus. Often under the influence of its retrograde phase, decisions made in a non-retrograde moment of revolutionary passion are reconsidered because the consequences of those decisions seem to take on a heightened clarity. That’s why my advice regarding Uranus/Venus transits is always: Marry in haste, repent at leisure. When the heat of the Uranian moment burns off, often what’s left is regret. And that’s because the feelings that rise to the surface under a Uranian influence are emotions, long repressed and in need of recognition, which once exposed and expressed tend to fade away rather than take root.

Uranus Retrograde continues until December 29, which gives us a long time to reflect on what’s been set in motion in our personal lives, as well as time to reflect on our collective situation, especially circumstances that have changed during the first six months of this year. To be sure, we will witness the consequences of some of those decisions. Be equally confident that some of those consequences won’t be easy to acknowledge, especially if you’ve participated in the anger and hatred that’s been unleashed over the course of the last several months. Don’t be surprised if you realize just how completely you’ve been swept away or been an unconscious participant in the waves of hate pounding the shores of daily life, not just in America, but everywhere.

And for those who don’t think that hatred of Hillary Clinton contributes to the negative climate, think again. Instead of hating Hillary, why not be outraged at how she is being treated? Hatred is of no use to anyone. Period. Anyone. One of the reasons I haven’t written much about the Presidential election is because I don’t want to deal with the self-righteous anger that comes my way when I speak my truth. I can’t imagine what it is like to be Hillary Clinton and be the brunt of so much vitriolic negativity. Isn’t there enough hatred in the world? Shouldn’t those of us dedicated to consciousness refuse to add more?

This week, as the seconds, the minutes and the hours of the days unfold to a Uranus Retrograde time signature, there is also positive support for staying grounded and focused, through a Sun/Saturn trine. The Sun, in Leo, reminds us that the physical sun shines equally on everyone, which is why a happy Leo is the most generous of Signs. Saturn, in Sagittarius, reminds us of the multitude of belief systems, which is why a happy Sagittarius respects a wide range of spiritual and philosophical beliefs. Use this positive configuration to strengthen your generosity of heart and mind.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
It’s another week to keep your mind focused on simply getting the job done. Avoid getting embroiled in extraneous matters that seem exciting in the moment but are mostly just a time sink-hole. Use discipline to work your way through this transition and you’ll be pleased with the results.

Taurus April 20-May 20
Continue to take care of yourself even if the time for rest and relaxation seems to slip away. Yes, there are a multitude of tasks that need your time and attention. But the best use of this time is acknowledging what you need and attending to those tasks of self-care.

Gemini May 21-June 21
You could realize the positive results of several recent ongoing dialogues, especially if you make an effort to listen closely to what’s being said by significant others, personal and professional. There’s no need to read between the lines—all you have to do is encourage an honest exchange.

Cancer June 22-July 22
The focus isn’t on financial security, although that’s important. The emphasis is on your ability to accurately assess your contribution as an employee or as a volunteer. Wherever you’re participating in improving your environment, you have an opportunity to improve your self-esteem.

Leo July 23-August 22
Be creative—everywhere and all the time—and do not let anything inhibit your free expression. Yes, I know that sounds dramatic, but I’m simply channeling the stars, my friend, and this is your time to shine. Let nothing—neither obstacle or self-consciousness—keep you from being you.

Virgo August 23-September 22
You’re still adjusting your internal lens to a brighter setting, and while that might require a moment or two, you’re almost there. So continue to be open to reassessing your attitude toward certain situations, and as the picture becomes clear, consider how you can turn your insight into action.

Libra September 23-October 22
Your input is welcome, especially ideas with the potential to facilitate positive change in your immediate community. There may be strong reactions to your contribution, but as long as your intentions are altruistic, your suggestions have the power to inspire action.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
There are real, tangible opportunities to enhance your professional reputation and improve your finances. Focus on your responsibilities and strive for excellence. I can’t guarantee that all your dreams will come true, but I can promise the possibility for success.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
Continue to assume the leadership position and focus on grounding your authority in a detailed organizational plan that benefits everyone involved. If you pay careful attention to the needs of others, you’ll lead with a generosity of spirit that encourages generosity in others.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
There’s a lot to be said for staying true to yourself and reaping the benefits of personal growth. Contemplate what needs to stay the same in your life as well as what needs to transform—if you’re willing to embrace change, you’ll easily shed ideas and belief systems that no longer serve.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
It’s actually not as complicated as you imagine, so rather than spending a lot of time strategizing about how to get others to align with your vision, put your vision out there. Trust the power of your enthusiasm and passion to draw the support and the team you need.

Pisces February 19-March 20
There’s enough positive support for you to feel confident in your professional endeavors. That support could manifest in any number of ways, from getting a promotion in your part time job to a long-term contract in your career of choice. You’re moving up, and that’s something to be grateful about.
