Scott Abbott received his Ph.D. in German Literature from Princeton University. He has taught at Princeton, Vanderbilt University, BYU, and UVSC. At UVSC he is Director of the Program in Integrated Studies and former Chair of the Department of Humanities and Philosophy.
Book publications include Fictions of Freemasonry: Freemasonry and the German Novel (Wayne State University Press, 1991) and Ponavljanja (Repetitions: Travels in a Novel(ist)'s Landscape * with Zarko Radakovic. Belgrade: Vreme-knjige, 1994).

For his manuscript “Immortal For Quite Some Time,” Abbott received First Prize for Creative Non-Fiction in the Utah Arts Council 1994 Original Writing Competition. He was the jazz critic for the Salt Lake Observer, and with Sam Rushforth, wrote a column for Catalyst Magazine called “Wild Rides, Wildflowers: Biking and Botanizing the Great Western Trail.” Currently he writes a column for Catalyst called “On Words.”
