Susan Sandoval Run for Ovarian Cancer Saturday 9/13/2008	8:00 am - 10:00 am
The Susan Sandoval Foundation for Ovarian Cancer was created to increase awareness of the signs, symptoms and risk factors for ovarian cancer as well as other gynecologic cancers (uterine, cervix, vulvar, vaginal and fallopian tube). The goals of the foundation are to educate and improve the care of women diagnosed with gynecologic cancers and focus on innovative research in this field. In 2007, the Foundation hosted the inaugural Susan Sandoval Run for Ovarian Cancer which raised over $13,000 and had over 400 runners and walkers. This year we hope to raise over $20,000 and have more than 500 runners and walkers. The race will be held on September 13th, 2008 at Sugarhouse Park.

The 3rd Imagine Peacefest is held in tandem with International Peace Day and provides a fun interactive afternoon of art and music while raising awareness of the need for peace, sustainability and social justice. The festival features displays of art by local school children and music performances by local musicians. Information booths are available to offer education about the peace and justice work in our community. The Eyes Wide Open Exhibit will also be displayed to educate our community about the human cost of the Iraq War.

You'll help an ongoing restoration project by removing non-native Russian olive trees from the upper reaches of the Escalante River. The project in its 9th season will allow native Cottonwoods and Willows to once again thrive in their native ecosystem. A four-mile backpack down to the river bottom and set up a remote tent camp.
