The 2008 Statewide Annual Art Exhibition: Utah '08: Painting & Sculpture features paintings and sculpture by 44 Utah artists selected in the Rio Gallery at the Rio Grande Depot in Salt Lake City. Jurors Barbara Robinson and John Spiak curated the exhibition from the 566 pieces entered through the Utah Arts Council's Statewide Annual Art Contest.
The exhibition runs from Friday, October 17 through Wednesday, November 26, 2008. The Rio Gallery is located inside the Rio Grande Depot at 300 South 455 West, and is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance to the opening reception, exhibit, and the exhibition catalogue are all free of charge. Parking is available on the street and in the lot next to the Rio Grande Depot.

The new exhibition, Interiors: Paintings from the State Fine Art Collection, is now on view at the Utah Arts Council's Alice Merrill Horne Gallery in Salt Lake City. Interiors illustrates how artists have approached the concept of the interior scene through the lens of 13 paintings in the Utah State Fine Art Collection ranging in date from the mid-to-late 1800s through today.
The artists included in this exhibition are: Gregory Abbott, Carlos J. Andreson, Lee Udall Bennion, Downy Doxey-Marshall, Alvin Gittins, Henry Neil Rasmussen, Doris Rosenthal, George H. Taggart, Mary H. Teasdel, Christopher Terry, Rebecca Wagstaff, and Linda Wheadon.
Interiors will be on view at the Alice Merrill Horne Gallery at the Glendinning Home (the main Utah Arts Council office) located at 617 East South Temple in Salt Lake City through the end of December 2008. The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy presents the 26th Vivaldi by Candlelight Benefit Concert. The Concert features the Vivaldi Virtuosi conducted by Utah Symphony's associate Concertmaster & Music Director Gerald Elias. The program comprises the genius of Vivaldi and other Venetian masters of the Renaissance and Baroque.
Vivaldi by Candlelight benefits the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization whose mission is to promote global understanding and respect between the people of Utah and other nations. The Council is a private sector partner with the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program and is the Utah chapter of the World Affairs Councils of America.

The new exhibition, Interiors: Paintings from the State Fine Art Collection, is now on view at the Utah Arts Council's Alice Merrill Horne Gallery in Salt Lake City. Interiors illustrates how artists have approached the concept of the interior scene through the lens of 13 paintings in the Utah State Fine Art Collection ranging in date from the mid-to-late 1800s through today.
The artists included in this exhibition are: Gregory Abbott, Carlos J. Andreson, Lee Udall Bennion, Downy Doxey-Marshall, Alvin Gittins, Henry Neil Rasmussen, Doris Rosenthal, George H. Taggart, Mary H. Teasdel, Christopher Terry, Rebecca Wagstaff, and Linda Wheadon.
Interiors will be on view at the Alice Merrill Horne Gallery at the Glendinning Home (the main Utah Arts Council office) located at 617 East South Temple in Salt Lake City through the end of December 2008. Regular gallery hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Admission is always free of charge. Please note: The public entrance to the Glendinning Home is located adjacent to the Utah Arts Council and Governor's Mansion parking lot on H Street.
