There's nothing namby-pamby or even the slightest bit lamby about March 2007-it roars like a lion from beginning to end. And so do we.
For some of us, that translates into a tenacious determination to pursue goals and ambition that overrides all other pursuits. For others, uncertain about how to handle the intensity, March could devolve into moments of bluster and fluster as fear or anxiety overrides the ability to respond-and instead of bellowing, you lose your voice. For individuals trapped under the thumb of wanna-be authority figures, the coming weeks could turn into a series of confrontations, especially the first two weeks of the month when those who don't know but can't admit they don't know take to talking in tongues or reenacting the Emperor's new clothes.
But blasts of power aren't the whole story. March also delivers unexpected information, personal and collective, through two eclipses, and those revelatory events make flexibility a must.

March also delivers unexpected information, personal and collective, through two eclipses, and those revelatory events make flexibility a must.
So even if your confidence is based on facts, avoid assumptions, and instead, be prepared for quirks and eccentricities, yours or others, to decide the course of certain situations.
Major themes
Several major configurations contribute to the March madness. First, March opens under the influence of Mercury retrograde that began mid-February and continues until March 7, technically, but it ends so late in the day it would be wise to say it ends on the 8th. Mercury retrograde, as many of you are already aware, is a time when all things related to communication and travel-Mercury's major domains-seem to move in reverse. Patience is the best way to handle computer crashes, as well as the best way to avoid car crashes. Despite this month's ferocious desire to get ahead, there is nothing to be gained by hurrying or scurrying-it simply isn't possible to push a retrograde river. So take your time and give others a chance to do the same.
Second, March contains two eclipses: a lunar eclipse on March 3 and a solar eclipse on March 18. Because eclipses tend to warp "normal" time, they send ripples across personal and collective ponds, and those disturbances tend to manifest as emotional issues and political events.
From an astrological perspective, during a lunar eclipse, when the Sun overshadows the Moon, conscious concerns override unconscious drives and a pragmatic focus on reality cancels the field of dreams. But pay attention-a lunar eclipse during a Mercury retrograde could make moving through the mundane chores of the day akin to swimming through molasses. Remember, we are all in this together, so be kind to your fellow travelers.
During a solar eclipse, when the Moon overshadows the Sun, unconscious drives and masked motives are often revealed.

Pluto squares both the Sun and the Moon during this month's solar eclipse, which means appetites for power, personal and collective, are unveiled for all to see. We're in for more mad scrambling as the people behind the curtains scurry to keep facades in place.
Third, and fortunately, a Jupiter-Saturn trine underscores the entire month. Jupiter is in Sagittarius, the sign of perspective, and Saturn is in Leo, the sign of self-expression. This positive partnership provides Jupiter with grounded determination and a "can-do" attitude and simultaneously supports Saturn's search for courage and strength to be authentic-a quest Saturn began in 2005 when it entered Leo. Use this Jupiter-Saturn trine to bolster self-confidence, awareness, and the ability to create insightful context about a variety of life experiences.
Other significant interactions
March opens with a Sun-Uranus conjunction that lasts from the 1st-11th. When the Sun and Uranus share the same space, they engender enormous spurts of creative intensity that need immediate expression. Uranus symbolizes spontaneity, the Sun signifies vitality, and when they share the same space that perfect union gives birth to unexpected and exciting events that evidence a need for personal freedom. Don't be surprised if you or someone you know suddenly declares an undeniable and irrepressible urge to break free from any person, place or thing-and isn't the least bit interested in considering the consequences.

The good news is that concurrent with the Sun-Uranus impulsivity, Venus moves into a trine with Saturn and Jupiter, creating a Grand Trine in Fire from the 4th-13th, a configuration that creates a deep and wide channel for creative inspiration. We love this. Venus is the goddess of love and beauty, and her presence turns the combined depth of the Jupiter-Saturn trine graceful with elegance and warmth. Use this time to mend fences and soften edges-yours or others. Allow yourself to be inspired by the passion of this pattern and you'll feel your spirit lift out of the doldrums of winter and into the vitality of spring, which arrives on the 20th.
Unfortunately, a Mars-Saturn opposition from the 17th-30th turns life more than a little testy. This opposition tends toward brutality as a way of solving problems and releasing tension. It's definitely not friendly and handling the intensity without lashing out at others requires as much common sense as it does discipline.
What's more, as Mars opposes Saturn it also conjuncts Neptune from the 19th-30th-a close union that tends to blur boundaries and cloud consciousness. Fortunately, Jupiter sextiles both Mars and Neptune, as it trines Saturn, providing a fulcrum for positive expression-or at least the potential for beneficial outcomes, particularly if every effort is made to be realistic and practical about plans and projects.
Remember, March is about determination and perseverance, which means even the difficult patterns of the month can be harnessed and put to good use.
March is a month of mighty intensity and the challenge for each of us is how to use its power wisely. One of the definitions of power is "energy in motion," and certainly our lives are just that-every thought, word and action, every day is an act of personal power. As the Dalai Lama has said, "When we feel responsible, concerned and committed, we begin to feel deep emotion and great courage." And when each of us lives with passion and courage all things are possible.
If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon sign,
read that too.
Aries March 21-April 19
Pay attention to where you plant your heart and mind, as well as your body and soul, and you'll refine your ability to create the life you long for. Root yourself in joy, and you'll grow a joyous life. Root yourself in love, and you'll grow a loving life. It is actually that simple.
taurus April 20-May 20
Penetrating insight is possible into old patterns keeping you mired in habit. Be willing to face these habituations honestly, without self-pity, and you'll access the potential to make profound shifts without creating turmoil or chaos.
Gemini May 21-June 21
The focus is on relationships of every ilk-personal, professional, family, friends, loved ones, and most importantly, your partnership with yourself. Use this time to examine how you can improve relations with all the significant others in your life.
cancer June 22-July 22
Stay open to tangible, practical opportunities to expand your career options and improve your finances. While every chance may not be the "pot of gold," that doesn't mean you won't make solid progress. Rather than feel constrained by limitation, embrace the possibilities and capabilities of your potential.
Leo July 23-August 22
Face the unknown with your innate gift of courage-roar like the lion you are meant to be and confront your doubts before your anxiety has a chance to take hold and corrupt your attitude. If you allow your bravery to flourish, your audacity to be authentic will dazzle and delight you and those you love.
Virgo August 23-September 22
Life can devolve into a mess of complexity when we spend too much time trying to please others, so rather than trying to please or measuring yourself against what you think someone else desires, just be you. Show up for your life-all you, all the time-and the rest will fall into place on its own.
Libra September 23-October 22
You can insist that certain areas of your life shift or you can resist irresistible forces for change-either way you run the risk of getting trapped in a rigid stance. But if you're willing to contemplate how you can modify or adapt your desires, you will not only stay flexible, you will also create what you want most-personal freedom.
Scorpio October 23-Nov. 21
Say "yes" and you will not only open the door to real career opportunities, but you will also create the possibility of freeing yourself from old habits that bind you to a limited perspective. You may have to work a little harder, but the extra effort is worthwhile.
Sagittarius Nov. 22-Dec. 21
To honor the value of all life, we must first be able to honor the value of our own, and a true assessment of ultimate worth can't be based on material accomplishments. Rely on your heart instead of your bankbook, and be prepared to realize how "rich" you really are.
Capricorn Dec. 22-Jan. 19
Put aside the need to be "right," and you'll be amazed at how many people will want to not only know what you think the solution is, but will also implement your ideas. Self-importance won't make you a leader-humility will.
Aquarius January 20-Feb. 18
Yes, your plate is full, and yes, again, you are overwhelmed, but no matter how busy you are, spend time with friends and family. As simple as it sounds, if you give yourself permission to relax, you will restore your resources and replenish your reserves.
Pisces February 19-March 20
Many tangible career and financial gains can be made, and there's no need to push too hard to see positive results. The only important thing to remember is compassion. Harsh words will only nullify opportunities, but kind words will enhance your good fortune.
