The Aquarium Age: Nov. 2-8

By Ralfee Finn

There’s nothing easy about the personal or collective tension this week, which is why patience, perseverance and persistence are key for handling the flux, whether those oscillations are physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. But those three P’s of emotional stability are likely to be out of reach for many of our fellow travelers, if only because we’ve been building to the political crescendo of November 8 for such a very long time and an interminable amount of time for many. Don’t be dismayed if you or those around you blow a gasket or two. It’s been a rough ride and few have been able to manage the political tension from a dispassionate perspective.

Anticipate that some may simply collapse from the stress and strain of an uncertain future. Not knowing what the outcome will be is its own kind of torture. In America, zealots on both sides of the election divide are at a far greater risk for meltdowns than zealots participating in previous Presidential campaigns. The rest of us—those who hope for a peaceful atmosphere no matter who wins—will need to up our game on self-soothing. Keeping a cool head in the midst of this madness requires self-awareness. Helping others keep a cool head requires a magnanimous attitude with the heart muscle to back it up.

The source of patience this week is a Jupiter/Saturn sextile, and although this contact won’t be exact until the summer of 2017, it is (as we used to say in the music business) “close enough for folk music”—I am grateful for its potentially soothing effect. Jupiter signifies a broad, inclusive perspective. Saturn signifies sober concentration. Sextiles indicate a positive union, and when Jupiter and Saturn work together, a grounded, philosophical approach is possible. Of course, in light of the political tidal waves breaking on the shores of our collective situation, accessing the full-throttle of this positive influence might take some doing, but at the very least just knowing it is there can add the ballast needed to get through the waves of the week.

And that ballast is probably necessary for some, especially in light of a Venus/Uranus trine. Venus is the goddess of love. Uranus is the god of spontaneity. And when they unite in a positive embrace, many mere mortals experience the ability to fall in love at first glance with just about everyone! Make the best use of this powerful, creative alliance by applying it liberally to any situation in need of a fresh perspective. And if you actually fall in love, just wait a bit before tying any knots. Remember the Venus/Uranus rule: Marry in haste, repent at leisure. (And by the way, that same rule can be applied to the Presidential candidates!)

A Sun/Neptune trine supports idealism, and while this enhances altruistic aspirations, it also indicates a high degree of sensitivity. Hyper-sensitivity is never easy to handle, and given the already roiling political climate of the week, this Sun/Neptune combination could exacerbate anxiety about who will win and what will happen next. The good news is that this trine can be used to amplify meditation practices. Use it to cultivate internal meditation practices, especially techniques designed to enhance a compassionate state of mind.

As always—and no matter what side you are on—do your best to embrace your fellow travelers. You don’t have to agree or even tolerate taunts. You only have to be willing to remember that we are all in this together, and healing the many problem areas of our lives, personal and planetary, is going to take patience, perseverance and persistence.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
Give yourself permission to experiment with patience: Before jumping into any situation feet-first, heart-first or head-first, take a deep breath, count to a hundred and consider the consequences. I’m not suggesting inhibition; I’m simply advising a conscious approach to each situation.

Taurus April 20-May 20
Be prepared for uneven strides, but don’t despair about making progress. Slow and steady usually wins the race, but that’s a hard pace to maintain when your imagination is moving at light speed. Keep your eye on the goal and you’ll find a unique rhythm that propels you across the finish line.

Gemini May 21-June 21
Significant others of every ilk act as catalysts that spark a fresh creative process. Allow these interactions to ignite new ideas and you’ll find yourself buoyed by an enthusiastic attitude toward old, seemingly unresolvable issues.

Cancer June 22-July 22
Yes, the tension is hard to take, which is why distractions are a good choice. And while I am not suggesting that you participate in anything unwholesome or illegal, I am advising you to take a break from the mundane and explore creative opportunities that will alleviate stress.

Leo July 23-August 22
Acknowledge your deep need for internal stillness and then devote yourself to doing whatever is necessary to generate that environment. Meditation would be a good place to start, but don’t leave out the need for a peaceful, stable and supportive atmosphere at home.

Virgo August 23-September 22
Your personal transformation is stimulated by thoughtful conversations with others, and while some of what’s discussed is disturbing, much of the dialogue is valuable, especially if you’re willing to surrender a subjective stance and step into the shoes of another.

Libra September 23-October 22
You could fall in love with everyone you meet for at least five minutes but that doesn’t mean the attraction will last. So rather than proposing marriage, delight in the excitement of a chance encounter and then let that stimulate a new awareness of what you desire in a significant other.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
Give your imagination permission to expand your horizons and inform your choices. Don’t worry that you will get carried away by unrealistic desires. Simply focus on what you would like to create in your day-to-day world and then use the power of creative visualization to “make it so.”

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
It’s an emotional week, and although you may think you are prepared for the intensity, it might be wise to take in the information in bites you can easily digest and metabolize. Don’t worry—this isn’t about negativity; it’s about avoiding overwhelm by skillfully handling all the information.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
Your inclination is to pull within and hunker down until the storm passes, and while that’s not a bad idea, the storm is not only external. So in order to calm your internal atmosphere, make a firm commitment to creating an inner sanctuary capable of withstanding the winds of your own mind.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
Allow yourself to engage in dialogue with everyone you come in contact with, and as you discuss various topics, listen carefully to what’s being said. You may disagree with the opinions of others, but if you can put aside those differences, you’ll discover valuable information.

Pisces February 19-March 20
Despite the climate of political uncertainty, you have several opportunities to advance your career. Make the most of this moment by being willing to try new ventures. A fresh approach has the potential to free you from old work habits that might be inhibiting your progress.
